A software ecosystem for modern cemetery management.
friedhof.io is a multi-platform software solution by PBSGEO for the planning and management of cemeteries and public green spaces. As a UX Designer at PBSGEO, I have been significantly shaping the visual direction and functionality of this complex software over the past year, contributing to the design concept across multiple iterations. As part of the product launch, I designed the landing page and accompanying print materials including flyers with QR codes.
Context
friedhof.io is a significant evolution of existing PBSGEO software and databases. PBSGEO offers cities, municipalities, and churches a solution to manage map-based data across three platforms: web, desktop, and mobile. The software covers a broad range of use cases including grave records, document management, geo-based task management, geometry creation, data linking, and financial workflows. The landing page needed to introduce this ecosystem clearly, generate interest, and convince potential customers at first glance.
The Process
The process started with paper and pencil, sketching structure and layout before touching any design tool. After collecting feedback from the team, I moved into Framer to build and publish the final page. A key focus was the narrative flow: guiding visitors from a high-level overview of the three platforms down into the specific features of each one, closing with trust elements and a clear call to action.
To reach an international audience, the landing page was published in five languages: German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. The accompanying flyers, also designed as part of this project, directed users to the site via QR code and served as a physical touchpoint at events and on location.
Key takeaways
This project reinforced how important clear page structure and a well-crafted narrative are when communicating a complex product. It also helped me further develop and sharpen the visual design language of PBSGEO as a brand.
